If you do 

show log | include SA

get you get any reports of malformed SA messages ?
(Note - we get lots, warning of  %PIM-6-SA_ENCAP_INVALID_, but
these seem to do no harm.)

I have also seen AS 0 (which my guess is an unreadable AS).

HOWEVER - 1731 is a reasonable number of total MSDP cache entries. If
you really have 1690 of them in AS ?, then something must be wrong.
At present, my show ip msdp count looks like :
