I have had good luck with 12.1(3) on the 75xx and 71xx platform doing 
M-BGP/MSDP/PIM-SM.

I've been running 12.0(10)S1 on my GSR 12008 and it's been doing 
M-BGP/MSDP/PIM-SM with Abilene just fine, as well as a half dozen other peers.
