Hi Susan, All,

This is the 1st formal meeting of this group since Stas left Internet2. New Chairs -- Steve Senger and Chet Rusckzyk -- are going to 'test' Martin Swany's Phoebus because the Stas-output (VFER) didn't meet either VHP or e-VLBI needs.

These calls are schedule for the 3rd Thursday of the month but this one has been moved from last week to tomorrow.

I hope to speak with you all soon,

I'm at the same meeting as Jason, but I'd like to try to join. I can try
with Skype unless there is a possibility to use h323.

Also, I think that the above characterization is not quite right. I'm not
sure that Steve and Chet are really going to test Phoebus against
their particular applications, but rather that we as a group will
discuss Phoebus as a bulk data transport service. From the WG
description:

The Transport working group will address the need of the community for a bulk transport tool that is easy to use on today's advanced networks, is portable across a wide range of platforms, has high performance, can tolerate minor non-congestive packet loss, applicable to both static file transfer and interactive applications, and is TCP- friendly.

I understand that there were some assumptions made early
about how this tool would be structured, but I think that we
should perhaps start by reevaluating some of those. I would
also contend that we might need to update the charter to mention
use of DCN, as it is a concern of the community that has emerged
since this charter was written.

best,
martin
