Shibboleth Developers,

(Some will already be aware of this; interim Jasig Executive Director Patty Gertz also addressed this in announcements at Jasig 2011 last week.)

Adam Rybicki was critically injured in a tragic vehicle-on-bicycle collision on April 3rd. He remains in a long-term care facility where it is hoped in time he will make a meaningful recovery. He was part of a group of riders; Adam's injuries are by far the most serious.

The Caring Bridge site where you can read more, follow his progress, and leave a note in the guest book for Adam and his family is here:

http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/adamrybicki

Adam has done great work with Shibboleth and has added value to this open source project. Besides work in the context of local implementations supporting the adoption of Shibboleth, Adam was the lead developer on the initial development of the open source Java library for making use of the delegated SAML authentication features in Shibboleth (a library usable in, e.g., portlets in Shibbolized uPortal.)

I hope you'll join his friends, relatives, co-workers, fellow bicycle enthusiasts, and all who know him in wishing Adam healing. Recent posts on that Caring Bridge site suggest Adam's already making progress in recovery.

Best wishes,

Andrew
