I've checked config_pub.h on our (open)SUSE installations. HAVE_GOOD_STL
is defined on 10.1 (gcc 4.1.0) and newer, it's not defined on 9.3 (gcc
3.3.5 prerelease). We don't have any 10.0 and SLES systems but since SLES
is based on (open)SUSE my guess would be that HAVE_GOOD_STL is defined on
SLES 10 (based on 10.1) and will be defined on SLES 11 (based on 11.1),
but maybe not on SLES 9 (based on 9.x, but Novell seems to have added a
gcc 4.1 runtime environment with SP4). So SLES 9 which is still supported
could be a problem.

Best regards,
Bernd
