Yes, it's called SSO proxying and is a SAML 2.0 feature (see sec. 3.4.1.5 of
core).
I don't believe there's been any discussion of it yet. Eventually I'm sure
we can support it, but I don't think it's on the 2.0 list. That doesn't mean
one couldn't rig it up on top of the base implementation.
