In order to provide our end-users with a central directory of all
available Service Providers and for other things of our federation, we
are thinking of creating an XML file (using the data of our Resource
Registry) that describes our federation in a complementary way than the
federation metadata and individual XML files.

This e.g. means that:
- all supported attributes within the federation are listed
- additional contact information for each SP/IdP is listed
- the required/desired attributes for each Service Provider is listed
- the intended audience of an Service Provider is listed
- and so on

So, this file (let's call it 'federation.description.xml') is
complementary to the metadata and ARP files and could be used for
various nice things in combination with those files (e.g. in combination
with an Identity Provider's ARP file, a detailed list of Service
Providers that the users have access to could be generated).

Has anybody been thinking of doing something similar? Or is there a
usable XML schema that one could use for that? We already have
implemented something preliminary for testing purposes:
