Here is the revised/edited version of the Phase One items:

1) support for htaccess-style access control. This would allow the local administrator to create access control policy, on a per directory basis. Directives would be the same as those supported by the unix/apache version of the shibboleth target (including the new AND directive). The rules would be maintained using (see Q below)?. The policy file for a directory (the set of rules) would be stored as a text file in the directory itself.

2) Integrate support for managing the shib configuration into the standard IIS management GUI. Currently, the Shib target configuration files are managed by editing text files. The task is to create a library and property pages that implement the IIS management COM interfaces, appearing within the IIS console, and possibly also storing some config data in the IIS metabase.

3) Improved installer package. The additional work would be doing web server configuration stuff during install and possibly prompting for more information, generating keys/certs, etc.

4) IIS 6 testing. Install and the test the Shib target package with IIS 6. Make any required changes to get the package, and the installation process, to work successfully. Identify any changes that are needed to the Deploy Guide.(I think there may be some problems with the new isolation mode in W2K3)

--- Outstanding Questions --------

1) should the htaccess rules be maintained by a text editor, or GUI tool?

2) Would implementing "possibly also storing some config data in the IIS metabase" require any changes to the shib target (ie the routines that read info from the shib config files?)
