XCAP:
This specification defines the Extensible Markup Language (XML)
Configuration Access Protocol (XCAP). XCAP allows a client to read,
write and modify application configuration data, stored in XML format
on a server. XCAP is not a new protocol. XCAP maps XML document
sub-trees and element attributes to HTTP URIs, so that these
components can be directly accessed by HTTP.
(despite being "not a new protocol") is apparently a new protocol inspired
by ACAP, spawned in SIMPLE for manipulation of buddy lists by IM/presence
clients, but also manipulation of access-control info about presence info
(hence potentially those geopriv privacy controls too, apparently).
FWIW. I have heard it said that webdav is part of this picture too ...
