If the machine crashed or was somehow shutdown "uncleanly"
the shar may do this.  However, it does try hard to clean up
after itself.

I really should have changed that path from /tmp to, say, /var/run,
which a) wont get removed on its own (sometimes /tmp gets cleaned up!)
and b) will get cleaned up at reboot!.
