I have added a "pre-checkin" target to the shibboleth build configuration. Before each and every checkin, please do the following:

1. Update your local sandbox. Use the "cvs update" command. Resolve any conflicts between your local sandbox and the repository.

2. Make sure that your code works. Use the "ant pre-checkin" command. This will compile all of the shibboleth components, run tests, and then clean up after itself. If this fails, please do not commit.

3. Commit your changes. Use the "cvs commit" command.

With several people working out of the same repository it is much easier if everyone stays fairly in-synch. The basic approach is to try to break down tasks into atomic steps, each resulting in something that compiles and runs the tests correctly. Some people synch once a day and some do so many times per day, but the prevailing thinking is that the more often everyone synchs the less often you have to go back and re-integrate things.
