Hello,

This evening, Box/AS33011 worked with Internet2 to migrate the peering connectivity they have with Internet2 at Ashburn and New York from the R&E/AS11537 network to I2PX/AS11164.  This was completed successfully.

I2PX also turned up peering with Box at two new locations, Chicago and San Jose.  This is the first time that Internet2 had had routes for Box's Chicago region.  The San Jose peering is intended to replace the peering Internet2 has had with Box at Los Angeles.

The plan for this evening was to also shutdown the Los Angeles peering between Box and Internet2 R&E network.  That change did not happen.  Box needs to make some additional routing changes and then plans to shut down the Los Angeles BGP neighbors Thursday (4/14) evening around midnight PDT (4/15 07:00UTC).

Hi All,

Internet2 is expanding peering locations for Box to better serve our community. As part of that move, we will also be moving Box from the R&E network to the Internet2 Peer Exchange (I2PX). We had announced this move some time ago when Box left the NET+ program but the move was delayed due to covid and Next Generation Infrastructure (NGI) implementation work. We are now going to implement this change on Wednesday, April 13, 10:00-11:00 p.m. ET.
If you have questions about the impact to your campus, please check with your networking team or your regional network to ensure you have access to I2PX. If you have any additional questions, please email
. Thanks.
