Hello K20 Initiative and PPSP Planning Committee,
A conference call has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 29 @ 2:00pm CST to
begin planning the 2013-14 Presidential Primary Sources Project. In this
meeting we will discuss the findings gathered in the white paper and how to
move forward with the recommendations for the 2013-14 project. Because the
school year was coming to an end quickly, we already sent one invitation out
for teachers and educators to solicit their participation in an advisory
capacity.
If you have plans to participate as a state or as a national content
provider, please plan to join the call on the 29th. The time of the call is
3:00 EDT/2:00 CDT/ 1:00 MST/12:00 PDT, and to join the call please dial
1-734-615-7474 (preferred) or +1-866-411-0013 (use only if free Long Distance
service is not available) PIN 0176476#
Below are notes from Lea Castillo concerning the invitation that went out
last week:
******We have determined that the biggest value of this project to the
classroom is that students are able to communicate and interact with experts
directly. In order for our content to impact the classroom and be
incorporated into the curriculum, we are forming an advisory team to develop
and create the essential question, timeline and determine the communication
and engagement with students.
Last week I sent out an invitation to recruit teachers and educators to
participate in the advisory team for the 2013-14 PPSP. We found the need to
engage more teachers in the development of the project in order to get more
buy-in for the project. If teacher's and educators are involved in its
creation, then they will be more engaged in the implementation and
incorporation into their classrooms.
I have had a very good response for participation. I am still gathering names
and will be putting specific information together to communicate how they
will participate and share their information.
Please send me information about teachers that you know that would be a great
asset to this team.
Hope to hear from many of you next week. Exciting that we already have
teachers who want to be part of the advisory committee.
With regards,
Carol
