If an IP address does not resolve to a hostname then the hostname field in the database will have the IP address and it will display. In other words the current field will return the IP addresses in such a case. In your example are there any IPs missing or were you just using that as an example and all your endpoints have hostnames?

Hello,

I noticed on our Grafana instance that in the “Source” and “Destination” host variables only hostnames are displayed as available options from the “meta.destination.hostname.keyword” field. Hostnames are obviously preferred to IPs, however there are some test points in the PerfSonar community that do not have resolving hostnames and only have IPs.

Is it possible to alter the “Source” and “Destination” variable queries for the Grafana perfSONAR Endpoint Pair Explorer to provide hostname as preferred option and if hostname does not exist display the IP from the “meta.destination.ip” field?

Screenshot attached to show only hostnames are displayed for options in the variable drop downs.

Below is the query used in Grafana to display the hostnames which would need to be altered to display hostname if available and IP if hostname does not exist.

{"find": "terms", "field":"meta.destination.hostname.keyword", "size": 10000000}

Thanks,

Justin
