We are currently moving forward with out perfsonar instance on our rhel 7 server.

Side note:  This is a good time to consider upgrading to Alma or Rocky 9 or one of the currently-supported Debian derivatives.  Support for CentOS 7 ends in June and we will be dropping support for that, Alma 8 and Alma 8 in the next feature release.

I am trying to schedule some regular tests but I am getting an error message that says "Error - Couldn't format pSConfig template file ".

Make sure that all of the required boxes are checked when doing that.  Not checking IPv4 or IPv6 is a common problem.  (The error message is awful.  We’re aware that the GUI has problems and don’t like it, either.)

I am able to run tests from the command line but they all seems to fail. I'm sure this has something to do with the psconfig json not being set up correctly. This should have been done when perfsonar-psconfig-publisher was installed correct?

The screenshots you sent show that the host’s resolver is misconfigured or the DNS servers it’s using aren’t configured to properly resolve hosts out on the Internet.  Specifically:

  • Could not resolve host: xxx during installation of perfsonar-pscconfg-publisher says the system can’t resolve the names of mirrors required to install prerequisite packages from CentOS mirrors.  That will have torpedoed the entire installation.

  • www.perfsonar.net: Name or service not known when trying to run a measurement says that pScheduler did its job getting everything set up and attempted to make the measurement.  The measurement failed because ping could not resolve the name of the host it was supposed to ping into an IP address.

Getting the DNS problem resolved should help get things back on the right track.
