Hi Andrej,

could you maybe provide me some more information on the relation between the perfsonar lookup service and DNS? As a clearification - I don’t want that all my nodes get registered in the central lookup service, instead it would be great if there are some hints how to host the simple lookup service or something compareable.

Thanks & kind regards

Hi Florian,

That will depend on who hosts/provides DNS for your institution, and what technology they use for this purpose. Therefore there can't be generic guidance on how to do this.

Subject: [perfsonar-user] Private Lookup Service

Hello together,

we plan to enroll several perfsonar nodes in our complete campus network to gain some insights about the healthiness of the network. Therefore we would like to establish some sort of “private mesh”. At the moment I am struggeling a little bit with the aspect of using private ips and the lookup service. The docs tell me that I should use a private lookup service but don’t provide any information how to setup such a service?

Thanks and kind regards
Flo
