Dear perfSONAR Users,

With the release of perfSONAR 4.4.0 and 4.4.1 iperf3 measurements run with
pScheduler are now using authentication as a way to prevent unauthorised
tests while the iperf3 server is up. For this to work on Debian and Ubuntu,
we had to provide an updated iperf3 binary compiled with OpenSSL support.

With Ubuntu 16 free support discontinued by Canonical [1], the OpenSSL
library version available is not the same as the one available for the other
Debian based OS we support (Debian 9 and 10 and Ubuntu 18). This means that
we would need to compile a dedicated iperf3 binary only for Ubuntu 16.
Considering the discontinued free support, we decided that the effort was not
worth it.

This means that no further upgrade of perfSONAR will be available to the
current systems running Ubuntu 16. We recommend you to upgrade to Ubuntu 18
or reinstall your perfSONAR node afresh with one of the OS we support. For
more information, please go to https://docs.perfsonar.net/install_debian.html

Thank you,
The perfSONAR Development Team.
