I would suggest looking at either new single socket AMD processor (John Graham can chime in) or appropriate Intel scalable processors with VROC feature enabled in the BIOS.

But that's a 2014/2012 motherboard, and a 2014 CPU. And maybe the Connect X4 has now been replaced by the X5?

I'd love to hear from anyone who has built a 100G recently, because I'd hate to overlook something new.
