Well even though “in place” upgrade seems to be supported, looks like it can be trouble.

I found the guide for CentOS 6 to 7 here:  http://docs.perfsonar.net/install_migrate_centos7.html

But when I try to run the backup script, the file is not created and I get the following:

/usr/lib/perfsonar/scripts/ps-migrate-backup.sh ~/ps-backup.tgz

Backing-up users...[SUCCESS]

Backing-up groups...[SUCCESS]

Backing-up passwords...[SUCCESS]

Backing-up perfsonar configuration...[SUCCESS]

Backing-up bwctl-server configuration...[SUCCESS]

Backing-up owamp-server configuration...[SUCCESS]

Backing-up NTP configuration...[SUCCESS]

Creating pScheduler backup:

    Version Information... Done.

    System Configuration... Done.

   Database...pg_dump: unrecognized option '--serializable-deferrable'

Try "pg_dump --help" for more information.

Unable to create pScheduler backup

Any ideas?

Thanks

Subject: {SPAM?} RE: [perfsonar-user] perfSONAR 4.1 will be available August 15th

Quick question, hopefully.  I just noticed our perfsonar boxes are CentoS 6.10!  I was going to get them up to CentOS 6.9 then try the upgrade to 7.  I’ve been looking around to see how this is done, all the instructions I see say to just run yum update or yum upgrade or random yum commands, everything I run says I’m 100% up to date.  Anyone have any ideas how I would go from CentOS 6.10 to 6.9 (or something earlier if I have to before 6.9)?  I do not want start from scratch on these boxes, and since CentOS 7 has an “in place” upgrade…thought I’d finally try to pull the trigger (and the fact that 4.1 isn’t supported on 6 lol).

Thanks

All,

This email is to inform you that perfSONAR 4.1 will be released next week on Wednesday August 15th. perfSONAR 4.1 contains a number of changes including:

- A new component called pSConfig to replace the MeshConfig component

- A new TWAMP tool

- Support for docker containers of the “tools" and “testpoint" bundles

For a full list of changes see the release notes here: https://www.perfsonar.net/release-notes/version-4-1

Also note that we are not making 4.1 available on CentOS 6 or Debian 7 (wheezy) since both of these OSes are nearing (or at) their provider's support end of life date. We strongly recommend you update to a supported operating system as soon as possible. Also, BWCTL is not included by default for fresh installs of 4.1, though it will be left untouched on existing systems. For more details on the upgrade process including information about discontinued operating systems, deprecation of BWCTL and exact details of the MeshConfig to pSConfig transition see http://docs.perfsonar.net/release_candidates/4.1b1/manage_update.html#special-upgrade-notes

If you are running a supported operating system and have auto-updates enabled, you should get the new version automatically within 48 hours of the release. There are no manual steps required and all data should be preserved. If for whatever reason you do not wish to receive the update right away you can disable auto-updates using our instructions here: http://docs.perfsonar.net/manage_update.html#managing-automatic-updates-from-the-command-line

Finally, thank you to all the beta testers that have experimented with the software. Your feedback is crucial to a smooth and successful release. We look forward to getting the software to all of you and please let us know if you have any questions between now and the release date.

Thank you,

The perfSONAR Development team
