Hi Pete,

You shouldn’t be blocked. I checked ESnet’s BRO instance just to be sure and your IP is not listed. I can get to that port from Comcast so it should be world-readable. As a potential workaround you can add the following line to /etc/perfsonar/lsregistrationdaemon.conf:

ls_instance http://ps-east.es.net:8090/lookup/records

That will tell the daemon to register directly to the lookup service at the URL above and skip the active hosts file.

curl -v http://ps1.es.net:8096/lookup/activehosts.json 

from other machines, but not from my perfsonar host, which is 129.19.165.2. Yet that host can ping ps1.es.net. Is it possible that I'm blacklisted or something?

The machine can ping ps1.es.net.

Hi Pete,

Please note the LS active hosts file is reachable via port 8096. Please make sure this port is open in your firewall. You can check if this access works e.g. via logging ssh to your Toolkit host and running:
curl -v http://ps1.es.net:8096/lookup/activehosts.json
