Valentin,

I have 8GB total on the VM with 6GB currently free. However, it would definitely make a lot of sense if I pulled the wrong repo when trying to get things started. I will pull the perfsonar-jesse repo and reinstall.

I had some problems with cassandra if there was not enough memory
on the machine, so you can also check that.

Also I noticed you might be running packages from perfsonar-wheezy
repo on Ubuntu 16.  Can you check that because Ubuntu 16 installs
should be using perfsonar-jessie repo:
