Hello,

I was able to resolve the last issue in the email threads below in connection with my attempts to install the perfsonar toolkit with CentOS  on a VM (VMware Fusion 8 for Mac OS X) on my mac laptop

via the CentIOS Toolkit ISO Installation option (thanks for your help on that), but as I am now going through the instructions on configuring the perfsonar toolkit for the first time at http://docs.perfsonar.net/install_config_first_time.html, I'm running into a problem when I'm trying to access the perfsonar web interface after step #7

(http://docs.perfsonar.net/install_config_first_time.html#accessing-the-web-interface). It seems that I'm not able to open up any browser or any kind of display within CentOS that I have installed

on the VM. For example, when I try to open up a firefox browser, I get:

"Error: GDK_BACKEND does not match available displays"

and when I try to open up any kind of GUI or graphical display (such as xclock) I get the error:

"Error: Can't open display:"

I've experimented with different things around re-setting the display, such as:

"export DISPLAY = 0.0:"  , etc.

and I've downloaded a lot of additional X-Window display related software for CentOS such as:

yum install xorg-x11-xauth

yum install xorg-x11-server-utils

but I continue to get the same error messages and cannot open up a browser or any other graphical display / gui.

Do you happen to have any suggestions on how I might be able to resolve this issue?

Many thanks,

Mark Yashar

…I reboot to restart the VM host and the VM restarts, I'm again presented with a screen asking

me how I want to Install the perfSONAR Toolkit system (like in step #1 under "Step-by-Step Guide using graphical installer" in http://docs.perfsonar.net/install_centos_netinstall.htmland it automatically goes back to the perfSONAR installation sequence…

Your installation probably went fine; it sounds like the ISO image didn’t get detached between the end of the installation and the next boot.  Been hit with that a few times myself.  :-)
