I think I must be doing something wrong. I also added color change 
entries in config.json:
    "colors": {
        0: "green",
        1: "yellow",
        2: "red",
        3: "#5F9EA0",
        4: "gray",
        5: "black"
 },

restarted maddash-server and nothing happened :(
