Hi George and Dan,

Thanks for the info!

Yes, the *Desktop* image works fine for me too. The *server* seems to give me a problem. I wanted to have a box without a GUI which I won’t use much anyway. I tried this one (sever), which gave me a problem: ubuntu-14.04.3-server-amd64.iso

But this one (desktop) works: ubuntu-14.04.3-desktop-amd64.iso

Not sure if it’s a version difference between 12.04 vs 14.04 or a difference between server vs desktop. For now, I can stick with 14.04 Desktop, but would be good to know that a server one works too somehow!

Thanks,
Joon

Hi Joon,

I installed ubuntu 12.04.5 Precise on both my LIVA X 2GB/32GB mini’s.  I had to make sure that I bios was configured to boot into Win8.X(UEFI) mode.  I’ve installed the perfSONAR-Testpoint package on both – one I run as an latency/loss server (OWAMP) and the other as a performance testing server (BWCTL/iperf3).  Both are participating in a mesh.

Subject: [perfsonar-user] Installing Ubuntu 14.04 server on ECS LIVA X

Hi all,

So we decided to test with a LIVA X 2GB/32GB machine for low-cost perfSONAR nodes.

I tried to install Ubuntu 14.04 server 64bit OS on the box via a USB stick, and ran it to this problem:

The workaround “hack” suggested by the user “vijayan2” *does* work. The Ubuntu 14.04 Desktop image on a USB stick does detect the eMMC storage (although after an error message: "fsyncing/closing /dev/mmcblk0rpmb intput/output error”)

Did anyone experience this, and does anyone know how to install the server version directy on the LIVA X box?

Thanks,
Joon
