I had the NPAD stuff running for years off one of the live CDs. I decided that I should probably update and I saw that the live CDs were no longer supported.

So, I installed pS-Performance Toolkit v3.4.1 (3.4.1-1.pSPS) (and whatever went with it).

It seemed to install OK, I can get to the toolkit/gui/services page OK but nothing seems to work ... Everything says "running". The only "no" is the "Globally registered" line but I wanted to get things running before I publicized it.

The system has two interfaces, one inside and one outside but I seem to be able to ping outbound to teh google and outbound to stuff on campus, so I think routing is OK (default points to outside world). It's not NATted so the FW shouldn't be an issue and, in fact, I can ping it from the outside world. Time's right, DNS is right.

I see that iptables is enabled by default, but all the "ACCEPT anywhere" tokens look OK.

The logs are filled with probes of various sorts from the great unwashed masses on the net and I can see that "fail2ban" seems to be not failing to ban them. The results pages are all empty

Ideas about where to go next?
