Hi Ralph,

I'm forwarding your question to pS users mailing list so it gets to right people. Pleas use it for further discussion (https://mail.internet2.edu/wws/info/perfsonar-user).

I'm sorry to hear you experienced troubles while installing pS. Please note we currently support Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.x or 5.x and Debian 4.0 only.

Dear Szymon,

just tried to start installing perfSONAR onto my openSUSE 11.1 system.
Already the first service I wanted to install put me into some trouble.

I deployed eXist-1.2.5-rev8668 into tomcat6 without any problems, but
got problems with the
geant2-java-xml-ls-1.3-12.noarch.rpm.

The geant2-java-xml-ls-1.3-12.noarch.rpm assumes installed tomcat5
software, but
openSUSE 11.1 comes with tomcat6 by default already.
There seems to be no way to tell the rpm package to use tomcat6 instead.

Do you have any hints?

I hope this will be only one first initial problem and instaling other
perfSONAR services
will be easier. But I am not sure. Are many of those software
dependencies programmed
inside perfSONAR or is most of the code upward compatible?

best regards

Ralph
