Michael,

There could be anything with the snapshot. Since the time it was 
released, we've had several big changes and some bug fixes.

I've just put new snapshot on the wiki:

http://wiki.perfsonar.net/jra1-wiki/index.php/Lookup_Service_Release

The updated (but not final one) version of installation guide is here:

I compiled and run the snapshot without any difficulties.
