Hi all,
in context of migration from psBase1 to psBase2 it is right time to stop
maintain old WebAdmin using psBase1 and implement new WebAdmin. New
WebAdmin offers much reduced functionality, but it is written from
scratch so the code and used mechanisms are better designed and well
structured. New WA so far doesn't offer testing configured via it
services. It is possible to move proper part of the code responsible for
testing, it is even possible to write it from beginning, but I think
this functionality should be redesigned. Most developers of services
using/cooperating with WA are here, locally at Poznan. I would like to
share with you our common idea.
So far request for test is send by servlet WA to itself and then XML
input data is sent using SOAP protocol to the service; service responses
with XML output data and this data is compared to expected output - if
this is equal - test is passed, if it differs - test result is negative.
We (I and rest developers from Poznan, I mean Sławek, Piotrek, Krzysztof
and Błażej) think it would be better (and much more easier to implement
and in consequence - more stable and bug proof) if WA would directly
communicate with tested service servlet and request via HTTP offered by
service
selftest, so function of WebAdmin would be visualization/presentation
obtained from the service selftest results. How do you see such idea?
what are yours cogitations in this area? is this right direction of changes?
Best regards,
Wiktor
