perfsonar development work

Hi,

I am looking for some help about installing perfSONAR-BUOY MA service on
Ubuntu 8.10. I've followed the instructions written here

But the packages mentioned there are .rpms which I tried to convert
using alien but as I thought that wouldn't work. So if you can point me
some documentation for manual installation would be great.
