Hello Jeff,
I'm not sure if hand maintained will be completely made obsolete, most likely you want a list
of 'favourite' services. Although I have to admit I'm slightly lacking insight into the
wishes of our end-users.

I agree, that makes sense. I guess one reason I pushed this issue is that those services were not showing up in the gLS when Chris asked them to be added to pS-UI.
So, in thinking about the interface:
Is it possible for users to add to their own 'favorites'? Something like web-browser bookmarks perhaps?
Having something like you show here would likewise be very beneficial for specific user communities too - perhaps it could be implemented something like 'shared bookmarks' so individual user communities can publish groups of 'interesting' services?
(I am adding these to the bugzilla entry as well, but I'm keeping it onlist as well so those that do not watch that product can participate - these are general concepts on how to expose the information from the gLS to users in whatever GUI they may be developing.)

Interface improvements should come through evolution, feel free to add your 2cents here:

My current plan is still to a third tab called 'Map' which utilises both the ls and the
topology services which shows a google maps like overview with zoom levels. Don't expect it
soon - still in idea phase.
Regarding this topic, I'm having some trouble identifying the eventtypes(used to register to
ls) corresponding to the plugin/tabs. Any info on that would speed up my work.
kind regards,
Michael.
To follow up on this...
I would really like to encourage developers and installers to start
making better use of the gLS infrastructure. For example, (Not to pick on Nina, but I've seen
a couple of things over the past couple of days) pS-UI should start migrating away from the
hand maintained lists of services, and start using the information services to find things. Of
course, that will only work if the services are correctly registering...

Hi again,
there is now a new service running on port 8090 instead of 3070. If you are using an LS,
you could probably find the new service :) The old one is still running, but will be
switched off soon.
And it has shown up here:

We are currently introducing communication with the Hades
traceroute service into PerfsonarUI. Can anybody tell if the service (test instance
running at http://radagast.rrze.uni-erlangen.de:3070/services/MA/HADES/
STATUS) is
registering to an LS ?
http://ndb1.internet2.edu:9995/perfSONAR_PS/services/hLS but I'm
not sure if this service is always running. (Maybe ask Jason).
Unfortunately, older versions of LS do not understand the
registration of the service and return a parse error. But I think Maciej solved that
problem. Maybe there is running instance of a new LS somewhere I can use?
Let me know which LS I can register to and I will take it :)

Verena
