Dear developers,

The product build guide has been updated to include a new section that 
explains how any service developer can easily create a WAR file 
distribution for their service. The build guide talks about common ant 
targets that are available in perfsonar-base which can be used by java 
developers for this purpose.

Please note that the WAR file concept is only applicable to Java 
services. As you might already know, we plan to provide a WAR file 
distribution along with RPM distributions for the upcoming release. If 
you have any questions or have issues using the procedure, please let 
roman know (and put Release management/me in the cc)

Another point for the immediate future are debs packages. While we 
initially intended to only product rpms and war files for the upcoming 
release, we have now been asked to provide packages for debian as well. 
Guilherme has upgraded his rpm_maker script (now called package_maker) 
to make it easy to create debian packages. Instructions on how to use it 
will be made available shortly. We have a debian system (virtual machine 
system, root access can be granted) that you can use to create such 
packages.
