Sorry for not responding earlier, but I thought that was a question more 
to release team than to me.

The XML LS 1.1.1 was tested on various distributions (we even had a 
training workshop in Berlin on installation and configuration i.a. XML 
LS and nobody had any problems with it). Perhaps the "ant" from debian 
distribution is wrong. The only thing I can suggest is to use different 
"ant" downloaded directly from http://ant.apache.org/bindownload.cgi - 
we used to use ant 1.6 from that location and now I am using 1.7 from 
ubuntu distribution.
So, please try ant 1.6 or ant 1.7 from
  http://ant.apache.org/bindownload.cgi
and then we can come back to the problem.
