A 500 Meg file on the wiki? (disk memory is surely cheap nowadays but

sizes)

I'm sure it will work much better than checking it into a SVN repository.

SVN is for revision control of small text files, not big binaries. The
wiki download page is used to point the user to a normal directory (e.g.
http://www.perfsonar.net/download/bundles/) which is served by a web
server directly, so file size is not a problem there. You can upload
everything which the web server OS can handle.

Regarding disk space: Do you think SVN doesn't use disk files? ;-)

You might think of checking in individual files from within the image,
e.g. config files. Everything that has to be changed to turn a standard
VMware installation into a working image. But definitely not a 500 MB image.

Best regards

Ralf

Ralf,

Thank you for your clarifications.
Anyway, Loukik was right... Before initiating VMWare distribution,
we should discuss and see if NRENS are interested in using VMWARE image of PerfSONAR.
(Either for testing, training or even production purpose...)

If not, It is not worth to spend more time and effort upon Virtualization.

Thanks
Bgrds/Frederic
