Dear all,

From today onwards, we intend to make extensive use of the perfsonar-release mailing list. We request that for all release management related issues (handover, micro-release, release candidates, documentation, bug fixes, etc), please send emails to the mailing list instead of addressing me or Luis or Jeff individually.

Release management has become a critical process especially in the light of ISS (In Service Support). There are 3-4 people involved in release-management. In order to make sure that we all are aware of the issues and that to provide backup for one another, we would like to make use of this mailing list.

If you are wondering who can contact the release management team using this mailing list and how? Frankly, anybody can send an email. But this is how we think it will work

1) All emails from developers about issues such as handover, micro-releases, release candidates, documentation, bug fixes, etc will be notified to this mailing list (instead of individuals)
2) The list will be the 'QA contact' for bug reports related to certain components (installation scripts) and certain products (perfsonar-bundle). This way we can keep track of specific issues which concern the release management.
3) The service desk --> This interaction is being defined.

The mailing list is moderated. Any of you can send emails (I will approve and add you to the list) but you will not receive emails sent exclusively to this group. (Archives will be available anyway)

If you have any queries, please feel free to ask any of us.

thanks,
Loukik.
