Didn't we envisage the transformation service for such purposes like data aggregation?

Yes - it is possible to use a separate services for the transformation. In the above I was just trying to indicate that it *could* be done in the same service, not that it had to be.

The important part of what I was discussing is simply that the transformation needs to be described by the metadata. I was not actually advocating any specific way to implement the data retrieval.
