Hi Joe,

VisualperfSONAR is based on Google maps and the Nemo people have also
experimented with Google.
However, there are two main problems with this kind of visualisation.
1) Google's policy demands that an application developed with its maps
is openly accessible to anybody. This means that no customization of
maps depending on user rights is possible.
2) Getting the geographical coordinates for different domains will be
quite heterogeneous since this data is stored in different place or
requires a transformation of addresses.

Within GN2 there is a new activity called common Network Information
Service (cNIS) for which we had a kick-off meeting last week. The
activity will develop a data repository which can be installed in a
domain and can be filled in flexible way. Besides of other export
possibilities it will also include a perfSONAR interface. The activity
can be regarded as an extension to the Topology Service.

Best regards
Andreas
