Hi all,

Nicolas,
In general I think we are making good forward progress on the
data collection side. We still have lots to do, but I see that
part coming together.

I was wondering if anybody was actively working on visualizations
that would tie all of this raw data together using a GIS approach.
Last January I was pleasantly surprised to see the progress that
perfSONARUI and VisualperfSONAR had achived. Are there more
surprises for me in store for this January?

If not, that is OK. Personally I think we still have 6 months to
a year of work to do on the underlying data collection and
management problems before we have a solid base of information to
display in this type of visualzation. So, I don't want to redirect
resources to this area. But if somebody is already starting it, great!

Generally speaking this is a nice application. Anyway I wouldn't suggest to spend efforts within a few next months on complete new visualisation as we currently have two or three of them and even then not using all capabilities. I would rather focus on delivery topology information for UI, integration and including more functionality in pUI, etc than working on new tool.

BTW, I think it is a good idea for all of the developers to see this
type of visualizations and think: "What capabilities are necessary to
tie all of this information together?"

You are right it's interesting to investigate it for future purposes.

Regards,
