Roman - why are you making this change? Is this related to Ulisses problem?

I see what the change does, and understand the previous implementation was in 
error. But, I would like to know what prompted you to make the change so I can 
see what things this effects.

(This is what I meant by answering the 'why' question in SVN logs. The rest of 
us need to understand the changes you make in the context of why you are making 
those changes. What problem were you looking at that made you realize this 
method was in error?)
