PerfSONAR Deployment Plan
1) RRD MA Deployment
Decide on a flag day to switch to perfSONAR v1.0 RRD MA.
2) Centralized LS Deployment
a) Goals
What are we trying to accomplish?
Reading between the lines of emails from Joe and Nicolas, I see at least 2 alternatives:
i) Make discovery of measurement data available in a production sense.
ii) Create a testbed for further development of multi-LS discovery.
iii) Other approaches?
iv) Both?
b) Strategy
We all agree the long-term goal is the multi-LS solution, but that's not currently available. Given the outcome of the goals discussion, how do we best achieve our goal or goals in the short-to-medium term?
Single centralized LS? Multiple centralized LS's?
b) Operational support
i) Where does/do the box(es) go?
ii) Who provides operational support for the centralized LS?
iii) What does operational support mean?
iv) What is the impact on affiliated services (e.g. perfSONAR UI)?
c) Updates to LS
Do we need a new release of perfSONAR that includes additional centralized LS support? I have heard two suggestions (enumerated below).
i) Error Codes
ii) Manual registration of services that do not support registration (e.g. L2
status service)
Regardless, we need to use production releases for our operationally supported LS deployment. If we're missing functionality to support production services, that means a new release, not using a snapshot.
What is the long-term plan for migrating to the multi-LS?
3) Affiliated Services update
a) Status of perfSONAR UI? (ISTF) b) Status of BWCTL MP? (DFN) c) Other?
