Hello SoX participants,

SoX in partnership with EPOC and the research computing group at the University of South Carolina is hosting a workshop on Wednesday 3/22/23 1-5pm ET and Wednesday 3/29/23 1-5pm ET.  This free virtual workshop will grant access to participants to a virtualized environment to run through exercises on data movement in the WAN, performance assurance (perfSONAR), and internet multi-homed routing (BGP).  This is a hands on workshop that is engaging and beneficial to those new to research networking as well as tips for those more seasoned.  Please mark your calendars and stay tuned for a registration link.

March 22nd and 29th, 2023

Workshop runs virtually from 1pm ET to 5pm ET on each day

Southern Crossroads (SoX), the University of South Carolina, and EPOC (Texas Advanced Computing Center and ESnet) are hosting the Modern Cyberinfrastructure for Research Data Management virtual workshop on March 22nd and 29th, 2023. The virtual workshop is designed to help research computing professionals deploy next-gen cyberinfrastructure that can effectively support data-intensive science.

The workshop will consist of 4 hours, on each of 2-days, that focus on the concepts of the perfSONAR network measurement infrastructure, effective management of routed network infrastructure through BGP, and other affiliated R&E best common practices that are designed to operate modern research and education networks to support data intensive science.  The content will be particularly useful for NSF Campus Cyberinfrastructure awardees that are being funded to upgrade their networks with these technologies, or those looking to prepare for the 2023 NSF CC* solicitations.  By the end of the event, attendees will have a better understanding of the requirements for supporting scientific use of the network, architectural strategies that can simplify these interactions, and knowledge of tools that can mitigate problems users may encounter.

Limited spots are available for this workshop, and registration will open in January.
