I have now uploaded some results and comments on experiments with HD webcams and ConferenceXP to the CXP wiki. Here is the link: http://cct.cs.washington.edu/project-wiki/index.php/HD_video_integration#Experiments_with_HD_Webcams It appears that some configurations of “professional” HD cards might also work in HD, using intermediary compression and high-power CPUs. I am experimenting with VC-1 and MJPEG compression using Blackmagic HD-SDI gear and will report back on the wiki with the results. So far, latency hasn’t been as bad as with HDV, but not quite as good as I was hoping for. Happy New Year, everyone! José Feghali From: Feghali, Jose In case there is any interest, wanted to let you know that I figured out how to use some of the “HD” type Webcams with ConferenceXP. Taking the new Logitech C910 as an example, this is what I have gotten so far: Max resolution for real-time VC: 1280x720@30fps 1920x1080@15fps Bandwidth: Between ~20-40 Mbps (more testing is need to figure out the limits) Latency: As good/better than uncompressed DV video If anyone is interested in trying this out, let me know. I am trying to put together a list of cameras that work in this mode – so far, I have the Logitech C910 (their other HD webcams work the same way) and the Microsoft Lifecam Cinema. Happy Holidays, everyone! José |
