Forum for Vedanta and Science (FVS) is an E-Group launched by "IIT-Students" and "IIT-Faculties" to "Study Vedanta Scientifically".
Science and spirituality are certainly the two most dominant forces that have shaped the course of humanity. Many great thinkers (including scientists and theologians) have felt a sincere need for a synthesis between these two forces in order to answer many complex problems of life. Thus focusing on this synthesis has profoundly inspired them. By researching on the life and works of several prominent scientists such as Newton, Planck, Pasteur, Einstein and Schrödinger, one can discover that many of them were inclined towards spirituality in comprehending their worldview of nature and reality. Their reflections are great assets to the synthesis of science and spirituality.
"Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."
A. Einstein
"An equation for me has no meaning, unless it represents a thought of God."
Srinivas Ramanujan
"When the scientist, philosopher, and medical man will get the opportunity to study systematically what is God, what are His energies, what is my relationship, how to approach Him, then only there will be paradise."
Srila Prabhupada
Vedanta includes some of the most ancient spiritual scientific treasurehouse of India and includes Srimad Bhagavad-Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam, Upanisads and Vedantasutra. Vedanta has inspired many prominent scientists and great thinkers around the world in their search for reality. Vedanta advocates synthesis of science and spirituality, and has an important role to play in different fields such as the search for origin of life, studying the nature of consciousness, understanding the purpose behind the Universe and resolving ethical challenges. However, the close connection between science and spirituality is still not widely understood among the general populace.
Forum for Vedanta and Science (FVS) is a students body motivated to understand Vedanta by following a Scientific Approach. It is working under the expert guidance of Dr. T. D. Singh (http://www.binstitute.org/director/index.html) who is the International Director of Bhaktivedanta Institute (BI) (http://www.binstitute.org) since 1974. BI is a not-for-profit organization and working for the synthesis of science and spirituality for the benefit of humanity. The goal of FVS is to scientifically explore and understand the spiritual realities and to have scientific principles and methods integrated into the practice of spirituality, for the spiritual transformation of the human society. Members of FVS include students and faculties from various academic and research organizations from all over the world. FVS has an e-group, by which it regularly sends articles on science and Vedanta along with the announcements of various programs conducted by FVS and BI. FVS e-group has grown in popularity and has around 2000 members from all over the world. All are welcome to subscribe to FVS e-group by sending an email at the address .
