Dear Internet2 NET+ Working Group Volunteers,
As National Volunteer Week 2025 (April 20-26) concludes, we extend our sincere gratitude for your dedication and expertise. The Internet2 NET+ program thrives because of your contributions to advancing cloud services for the research and education community. Your willingness to share your time and knowledge is vital to our shared success.
One of the foundational principles of the Internet2 NET+ program is to amplify and share the amazing knowledge available in the research and education community. By participating in community working groups, you are at the forefront of both sharing this knowledge and learning from peers. We believe these working groups are workforce multipliers, helping to lift the collective knowledge in the community. In a time where we are experiencing a new wave of technologies coupled with significant budgetary challenges, working collaboratively has never been more important than it is today. We thank you for your time.
This year, we'd like to particularly highlight several working groups whose efforts have made a significant impact:
- Generative AI: Shares knowledge across the community in this emerging area of technology and helped jumpstart plans for several NET+ service evaluations to support emerging needs.
- Cloud Scorecard and Profiles: Helped provide key advice and feedback to launch the public preview of the new Cloud Scorecard Finder site.
- Third-Party Risk Management: Focuses on helping institutions navigate and manage risks from external vendors. Helped prepare for work on an RFP to identify a solution to help strengthen the community’s collective approach to third-party risk.
- Future Wireless: Brings together a diverse community of practice to discuss innovative ways to leverage emerging wireless technologies. Helped to support the development of a private 5G and neutral host network RFP, which is being awarded to Kajeet.
We also want to acknowledge the contributions of these other important working groups:
- Cloud Storage
- NET+ Canvas Data Governance Advisory Council
- Vendor Management Working Group
- Vendor Management Community of Practice
- and more
Your continued involvement will be crucial as we explore emerging technologies that can benefit our community. Thank you for making this possible.
With sincere appreciation,
The Internet2 NET+ team
