Jiann-Ming;

I think the short answer to your question is yes. The NDT server sends the test results, including the web100 data back to the client after the test completes.

One thing you can do is to look at the Java console log on your failing clients. That might give you some insight. Also if you are running your own server, then the server log 'web100srv.log' can give you some details as well.

As I noted below, there are some bugs in the NDT 3.5 & 3.6 code train. The 3.4.4a code is very stable, especially if you want to run in single user mode with FIFO queuing.

Does the NDT server send the results back on port 3001?

The short answer is no, the client does not require the web100 kernel mods,
just the server.

I am in the process of fixing bugs in the NDT server code. At one point I
put in some code to cal the alarm() function at various points. The goal
was to terminate a dead client early instead of waiting until the test
period ended. Unfortunately some of these timers are going off while the
test is still in progress, and this is causing grief. One way to tell if
this is the problem is to look in the /usr/local/ndt/web100srv.log file and
see if you are getting SIGALRM messages. If so, then this is the problem.

The next release should fix these problems.

I'm running into the "Receiving results..." hang on various hosts. I'm
running 3.6.1. It's able to do the C2S and S2C tests. It indicates the
slowest link and that other network traffic is congesting the link. Does
the client have to have the web100 kernel as well?

The only client that isn't failing is my other test system that has a
web100 linux kernel. The CLI and the java applet both work without hanging.

Thanks for any clarification.
