Well, not exactly clear what you mean by "using", but
I did activate a serial port since I'm running it on a
remotely installed box with lights-out-management
capability. I use the LOM serial access when booting.
Once the box is up, I activate "sshd" and use that:
update-rc.d sshd defaults
/etc/init.d/ssh start
(I think it wasn't enabled by default - I'm currently
running the version that was available when the Joint
Techs was held here in Minnesota.)
For serial console, you want to go in to "/etc/inittab"
and un-comment one of the getty lines for your preferred
ttyS. You can then do "telinit q" or reboot to get it
activated.
