Hi Peter;
I'm not aware of any Java specific code that would require the 1.5 SDK. You should be able to build it with any of the 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, or 1.5 SDK's.
However, there are some JRE / SDK version issues so if you build with the 1.5 SDK, you need the 1.5 JRE.
So can you rephrase your question, are you talking about the SDK or JRE version?

Is it correct that Java 1.5 is now the minimum acceptable version?
This would seem to close the door on people with older OSes (Mac OS 10.3 in
my case) which don't support anything later than Java 1.4. We have installed
ndt-3.1.4b on a 64 bit Power 5 box but we have been unsuccessful in connecting
to it with anything less than Java 1.5 (we also had to static link 32 bit
libraries because the 64bit versions didn't link but that may be our fault).
I'd think it is desirable (but perhaps not possible) to keep to stay
compatible with as old a Java version as possible.
