I'm happy to review these changes -- in fact, they may be some of the
very things that MLab would really like to have (sooner rather than later).

These changes are superceded by the Issue144-staging branch. As long as
that branch is merged (which it is, I believe!), you can ignore the
regular Issue144 branch. I will delete it, in fact. :-)

We are in a pretty big hurry, actually, to get this new release pushed
to all of our sites. In fact, if we had a "release" of this code, it
would make our lives easier. If we had to wait for a release, we will
probably just use a "pull" from svn.

In other words, we want a release as badly as you do :-)
