Good afternoon,
I'd like to announce an upcoming NSF Middleware Initiative (NMI) Campus
Architectural Middleware Planning (CAMP) workshop.
Called Base CAMP, this workshop will be held June 24-26 in Boulder,
Colorado and is designed for representatives from campuses in the early
stages of enterprise middleware planning and deployment. This session is
an opportunity for campus CIOs/technology management and IT architects
to learn about practices and recommendations in higher education.
The program will offer two concurrent tracks: a 1.5-day
management/policy track intended for CIOs and a 2.5-day
implementation/technical track designed for IT architects. Participants
will come together to learn about deployment recommendations and
business cases, exchange information on technical and institutional
issues, and discuss major middleware activities and approaches.
Due to hotel limitations and our desire to foster effective exchanges,
the number of participants will be limited initially to two per campus
with a total attendance of 120. Registration is available now for the
Base CAMP session on the www.nmi-edit.org <http://www.nmi-edit.org/> web page.
Other Educational Opportunities Sponsored by NMI
If you are interested in these topics and are unable to attend Base
CAMP, please consider participating in the preconference seminar
"Middleware Planning and Deployment 101: Setting the Stage" held on June
17th at the Southeast Regional EDUCAUSE Conference in Atlanta. This session will
cover the basics of middleware from a management and business-case
perspective.
In addition, there will be an Advanced CAMP in July, targeted at
experienced IT architects. Sessions will be highly technical.
Registration for this event will be available in early June.
These workshops and preconference seminars are sponsored by the NMI-EDIT
Consortium comprising Internet2, EDUCAUSE, and the Southeastern
Universities Research Association (SURA). The Consortium was funded with
the GRIDS Center (www.grids-center.org <http://www.grids-center.org/> ) by NSF
for the overall purpose of advancing the productivity of academic scientists and higher
education.
If you have questions about the NMI or NMI-EDIT Consortium activities,
please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best Regards,
Ann West
