Dear Members of the Educational Videoconference Community, Greetings! As World Storytelling Day 2015 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Storytelling_Day ) comes to a close -- Congratulations are especially due to the Bangalore Storytelling Society for facilitating a videoconference WSD event! (A link to the online recording is below.) Storytelling is going to be an important part of videoconferencing, and videoconferencing is going to be an important part of storytelling. Performance of, discussion about, and training in storytelling via videoconference has begun, and is growing. A videoconference platform of choice at present is Google Hangout, which has the following strong points: 1) Up to ten parties can join. 3) There can be a live webcast (through a Youtube page). 4) A recording of the videoconference can also be accessible online (through another Youtube page). 2) All of the above is free. *** The World Storytelling Institute (which is based in Chennai, and which I direct) would next year feature at least one videoconference as part of our annual Storytelling Festival: Chennai Storytelling Festival 2016 (Fri 5 - Sun 14 Feb 2016), "Storytelling and Inter-cultural Communication". Travel. Tourism. Translation. "Journey" and "Path" as Metaphors. Visiting other lands and worlds. Discovery and Exploration of the other, and of the self. Please let me know if you might be interested in participating in this videoconference(s), as a speaker, workshop leader, teller, etc. *** And -- I and team members in Chennai are looking forward to participating in a videoconference in relation to WSD 2016 (on 20 March 2016) -- whatever the theme may be. This videoconference could be co-facilitated by a number of parties. *** As mentioned, a link to yesterday's videoconference facilitated by the Bangalore Storytelling Society is below. Further below are links to three other recent storytelling-related videoconferences. All of these events have occurred via Google Hangout. *** Best regards, - Eric Chennai (on India's southeast coast) www.storytellinginstitute.org (NGO) www.storytellingandvideoconferencing.com (personal) ____________________________________ World Storytelling Day 2015 -- "Wishes: Videoconference Discussion and Tellings".
