I think it’s a matter of whether you want to endorse them globally (entire server) or local to your app (using WEB-INF/lib).

 

Did you just put them in lib?  Or did you create an endorsed folder under lib?

I encountered this problem when deploying to a JBoss server.

I put the jars into the JBoss \lib\endorsed to get them to be called.

properties (and add the libraries to the usual classpath):
